Chef Joseph Martinez

Born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, Chef Joseph Martinez brings his native Texan roots to the forefront of his culinary point of view. Joseph was classically trained in French technique and cuisine at Le Cordon Bleu before beginning his career at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Following his experience at Disney, Chef Joseph returned to Texas to join the Silo Restaurant Group in San Antonio. Over the course of an eight-year tenure at Silo, Chef Joseph contributed to the successful opening of three restaurants and oversaw operations at Silo Prime & Terrace Oyster Bar. During his time at Silo, Joseph developed an appreciation for handmade pastas that he incorporates throughout his menus and daily specials to this day.

In 2021, Chef Joseph joined the Marriott Rivercenter on the River Walk and the Marriott Riverwalk hotel as the Sous Chef of Tributary, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Joseph’s technique-driven cuisine was immediately infused into the Tributary menu which draws inspiration from the regions and local products of Texas. During his time as Sous Chef, Joseph gained local and nationwide notoriety as the consecutive winner of the San Antonio Burger Showdown. Joseph’s local win earned him the chance to compete at the 2022 World Food Championships in Dallas. It was Joseph’s award-winning “Elote Burger” that finished in 8th place overall during the competition, which featured competitors from around the globe.
